At Kind Earth Growers it is all about Habitat
Kind Earth Growers is a wholesale nursery, in Ottsville PA, founded to meet the demand for native wet-land and dry–site perennials used in ecological restoration, storm–water management and functional landscape design. Our plants are seed grown from open pollinated, native populations to help preserve regional genetic diversity. To provide our customers with a range of options depending on site–specific projects, our plants are grown in DP72s, DP50s, and deep 4” containers.

At Kind Earth, we are passionate about the preservation of native plants in the landscape. We strive to produce high quality plants which provide biological function for green infrastructure projects and that are the backbone for ecologically resilient native landscapes. Kind Earth Growers is helping to cultivate ecological awareness through local outreach and community engagement. We are a company with roots in the local environment, that branch out to fill the need for seed grown native plants in conservation and restoration efforts nationwide.

      Stormwater Management and Wetland Plants

Our large selection of perennials are well suited for use in retention basins, bio-remediation, and more. Popular plants include Pickerel weed, bulrush, soft rush, submergent material, Spatterdock, and more.

We provide material for stormwater management and wetland restoration in DP72's, DP50's and Bareroot submergents.  Our large selection of perennials are well suited for use in retention basins, bio-remediation, and wetland restoration projects.  Our plants have been used in projects throughout the Northeast, mid-west and beyond.  Popular plants include Pickerel weed, bulrush, soft rush, submergent material, Spatterdock, and the native white water lily.

Native Seed Grown Perennials in DP50's and DP72's

We have over 200 species of seed grown native perennials. Our DP72 (1.63 x 3.25”) is our standard plug for our Aquatic and Wetland perennials. For many of our dry-site species the DP50 (1.88 x 4.50”) is our standard.

Our DP72 (1.63 x 3.25”) is our standard plug for most OBL/ FACW species in our Aquatic and Wetland perennials.  We often recommend the DP72 when Hydrology is present.  The deeper root mass of larger plugs is not an advantage in aquatic planting.  The DP72 is also efficient for installation and is one of the more cost-effective options available to buyers.    Our most popular DP72 is our Pontederia Cordata, Peltandra virginica, Schoenoplectus tabermontanii, Juncus effusus, and Iris versicolor to name a few.

We offer our DP50’s when a deeper root is an advantage or is requested.   For many of our dry-site species the DP50 (1.88 x 4.50”) is our standard.  Some popular plugs in our DP50 are our Carex ssp., Packera aurea, Asclepias incarnata, Rudbeckia fulgida var. deamii, Lobelia cardinalis, and Pycnanthemum muticum.

The height of the top growth in a DP72 or DP50 is often quite similar.  Unless requested, most material will be cut back at shipment to mitigate transpiration during the installation process.
