Wholesale Container Shrubs, Trees, Perennials and Ornamental Grasses
Hawksridge Farms was started in the spring of 1982, with the purchase of a small local nursery then moved to our current location. Along with the purchase of the nursery, HRF also got it's first four employees. Rick Crowder was one of the original employees, and became General Manager a short time later.
Originally HRF was both a retail and wholesale operation, but became wholesale only around 1988. The nursery sits on 120 acres and currently uses about 70 acres for production of woody ornamentals, perennials, grasses, vines and trees. Our location in the foothills of North Carolina and close proximity to major thoroughfares has proven to be a great asset to the nursery. Beginning with weekly deliveries to the mountains and piedmont of NC, our territory has expanded north to Connecticut, south to Georgia and west to Kentucky.

New plant introductions, excellent customer service, and of course,
quality are the basics that HRF were founded on.
Over the last 15 years,
Rick has developed his passion for unusual and interesting plants by traveling to other countries to acquire new varieties for production. Numerous trips to Japan, Holland, England and Scotland, as well as Germany, Italy, New Zealand and Belgium to collect plants and
add these selections to our inventory has helped give us the the perfect
blend, between traditional basics and new and exciting,
that so many homeowners seek for their
outdoor living areas.
Giving back to the industry and community are a high priority of HRF.
Rick has served in many different roles with different Associations and Gardens. Donations to local schools, organizations and supplying plants
for the Habitat for Humanity homes in the tri-county area are several
ways we strive to make our community a better place.
