Green Leaf Plants® is the division of Aris Horticulture Inc. that is the wholesale source for quality starter plants, including pre-finished forms for selected products. The Keepsake Plants® division produces finished product for wholesale sales. Our offering encompasses a wide range of Perennials, Herbs, Ornamental Grasses, Florist quality Azalea and Hydrangea, as well as TradeWinds Tropical Hibiscus, and Suntory® Mandevilla for the patio or landscape, all backed by unrivaled technical support.
Aris Horticulture: Green Leaf Plants and Keepsake Plants!
We are a leading grower and researcher of high quality ornamental plant products. With 90 years of experience, we understand the business challenges of our customers and continually strive to bring better plants to market, more efficiently and more profitably.
The Green Leaf story began in Maryland in the 1970s, with Oliver "Buzz" Babikow and a partner growing potted azaleas for the Baltimore and Washington market as Green Leaf Enterprises, Inc. The company expanded rapidly into available greenhouse space in Pennsylvania and gradually became better-known as a propagator, supplying liners of annuals and perennials to wholesale growers throughout North America.
With demand steadily increasing for young plants, the finished line was phased out. Green Leaf specialized in starters only, offering perennials, ground covers, herbs, shrubs, grasses, and a slowly-shrinking list of annuals.
In 1996, the company was bought by Yoder Brothers and became a Yoder brand, operating out of efficient new greenhouses in Smoketown designed specifically to produce liners. Annuals disappeared. An extensive new line of unrooted cuttings was added and continues to grow in popularity. The Green Leaf name was retired, but it never went away entirely: Green Leaf was so entrenched, many in the industry, even internally, still used it out of habit.
In 2009 Yoder became Aris Horticulture, Inc., and that other familiar name was officially resurrected. We have a new look, a new logo and a new identity as one of three business units under the Aris umbrella. As Green Leaf Plants®, we're still an industry-leading starter source for perennials, and now for a select list of potted plants, too.
